Sports Illustrated names Miami Heat star LeBron James the 2012 Sportsman of the Year.

LeBron James averaged 28.6 points, 10.2 rebounds and 7.4 assists en route to his first NBA title and his first Finals MVP.

Down 2-1 to the fourth-seeded Pacers, LeBron James exploded for 40 points and 18 rebounds as Miami won Game 4 before wrapping up the series in six games.

"He knew it was the game of the series," Pat Riley said of LeBron James in Game 4 against Indiana. "It was no longer about being a team player. He had to carry us."

With the Heat down 3-2 in the Eastern Conference finals, LeBron James put the team on his back, dropping 45 points and 15 rebounds in a 98-79 win over the Celtics in Game 6.

LeBron James scored nine of his 20 points in the final four minutes as Team USA survived a scare from Lithuania in pool play at the 2012 Olympics.

The first championship hasn't lessened LeBron James's desire: "I know there is someone, somewhere, trying to take my spot."

LeBron James isn't just a distributor. Against the Rockets on Nov. 12, he tied the Heat record for points in a half with 32.

Pat Riley calls LeBron James Boat -- "You know, best of all time" -- to remind James of what's still left to achieve.
