DID YOU KNOW? PRINCE: An Accomplished Guitarist

Prince's Hohner/Staufer Telecaster

PRINCE: An Accomplished Guitarist
by Kong from theKONGBLOG™

Unbeknownst to many, Prince is not only a singing/songwriting genius and incredible performer — he is also an accomplished guitarist.

Behold his passion for the six-stringed instrument — alongside his fellow peers and rock legends at a 2004 Tribute to George Harrison R.I.P. — Prince makes his guitar sing weep w/ a blistering solo to a Beatles' C-L-A-S-S-I-C!

Duly Note©:
["While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is a song written by George Harrison, first recorded by the Beatles in 1968 for their eponymous double album (also known as The White Album). The song features lead guitar by Eric Clapton" — Wikipedia]

Don't get me wrong, he is -by no means, a guitar virtuoso but he is a great guitar player, a damn great one at that — 3:28 mark is the start of his E-P-I-C performance — as Prince pulls-out a grab bag of flashy guitar tricks w/ plenty string-bending, hammer-ons, pull-offs & vibrato techniques — he doesn't skip-a-beat.

E-P-I-C performance for the ages

In fact, this particular solo not only captivated its audience, it stirred-up a wide-range of controversy as well — internet chat rooms and online forums were flooded w/ guitar fans and guitar players arguing, beefing, and trolling over the oft-heated debates over his playing.

"Was it real? Is he really that skillful?? Can Prince really play guitar???"

Regardless if his solo was backtracked, rehearsed or even taped-over, and this is coming from a life-long student of guitar and extensive music theory lessons:
Prince's solo had a perfect blend of guitar licks n' tricks and funky guitar chops — it also had a perfect progression as Prince's outro kept soulfully building & building — leading into the climactic crescendo.

Prince Rogers Nelson (mastered 27 instruments) but loved
the six-string instrument the most!

And what better way to conclude a blistering guitar tribute solo than throwing his guitar up-in-the-air / over-his-head and then ((( POOF ))) PRINCE's GUITAR MAGICALLY DISAPPEARS INTO THIN AIR — A MASTER SHOWMAN!

"WOW!"

I truly hoped you enjoyed the goose-bumps inducing performance by Prince the Avant-Garde, Prince the Musician, Prince the Performer, Prince the Savant, and Prince the Singing/Songwriting Legend! #PrinceRIP

*6:09 mark is the absolute icing on the cake — as he tosses his guitar up to the heavens and ((( POOF ))) his Fender Telecaster mysteriously disappears and mystically vanishes without a trace...Prince the Illusionist!
