After 12 years of conquering the charts, Grammy-nominated/platinum-selling group My Chemical Romance have announced that they have split up.

MCR posted an online statement on their website MyChemicalRomance.com on March 22nd, 2013 — saying it's time for them to 'come to an end'

Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (2004) by My Chemical Romance

"Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing," official statement posted on the band's website. "We've gotten to go places we never knew we would. We've been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We've shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends."

They then added:

"And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all your support, and for being part of the adventure."

Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys (2010) by My Chemical Romance

Since the announcement, there has been a ginormous outcry and waves of shock from heartbroken fans all over the world. These hometown favorite boys from Jersey — Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Mikey Way and Frank Iero, released four studio albums, starting w/ their noisy and sensational debut, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love (2002), which went gold due to their huge underground cult-like following.

Their second LP, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge (2004), garnered mainstream success and set their platinum-selling wheels in motion — the classic album spawned four successful singles: "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" "Thank You for the Venom" "Helena" and "The Ghost of You"

If Three Cheers gave them success in the mainstream, then their third opus The Black Parade (2006) provided the group w/ chart-topping/world-wide success along w/ a Grammy nomination. These hometown Jersey boys went from packing underground shows to bonafide stadium rockers in a short-span.

"You Brought Me Your Love, The Black Parade and Danger Days, Three Cheers for Fabulous Killjoys!"

Their fourth –and subsequently, final studio album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys (2010) also brought them platinum-success as their hit-making parade continue to march on...well, up until now -of course.

My Chemical Romance had stated last year in May 2012 that they were set to start work on their fifth studio album — with guitarist Frank Iero claiming that writing sessions had been going, "really well.

In fact, the band have also been releasing tracks recent months from their scrapped LP Conventional Weapons (2012) online — click for an "exclusive" listen:
