• Sloths are so sedentary (slow-pokes) that they can actually grow algae (since they're so motionless) on their furry backs — helps to camouflage the animal in trees
• Sloths have a very slow metabolism and low body metabolism and can go for days without eating or drinking
• Sloths also sleep upside-down for up to 18 hours at a time
• Mothers also give birth to babies upside-down w/ their babies cling to their mothers until they are able to take care of themselves
• Sloths are identified by the number of long, prominent claws that they have on each front foot. There are both two-toed and three-toed sloths
• Sloths are solitary animals and only come together to mate
