Yasiel Puig — Super-Stardom or Super-Bust?

Yasiel Puig | #66 | RF | Los Angeles Dodgers
Height: 6' 3" | Weight: 245 lbs.
Bats: Right | Throws: Right
December 7th, 1990 | Age: 22 | Cuba

Unless you've been living under a rock like Netherlanders in the Geico commericals, Yasiel Puig the rookie from the Los Angeles Dodgers has stormed into the Majors — generating talks about an All-Star bid, resurrecting the Dodgers' organization and saving Don Mattingly's managerial job — all within one month's worth of duty.

The Dodgers' Yasiel Puig had a record-setting first month in the bigs, his 44 hits second in MLB history in that span after Joe DiMaggio

Is Puig on the path for super-stardom or will he be a bust like Kevin Mass? If you don't recall who Kevin Mass is... ...in the middle of 1990, the Yankees called-up Maas when Don Mattingly (ironically) went on the disable list w/ back problems. Mass smashed 9 home runs in only 62 at-bats — eventually tying a Major League record w/ 12 home runs in his first 100 at-bats.

Evidently, his career went downhill from there — never living-up to the high expectations that was bestowed upon him by the Yankees faithful. Will Puig live-up to the hype or will he be a bust ala Kevin Mass or worse yet, Gregg Jefferies' stint on the New York Mets?

But that — ladies & gentlemen, is another story.
