$50,000 Reward Offered For Vandals Of Jackie Robinson Statue

The Jackie Robinson Foundation received two donations of $20,000 – one from New Jersey businessman and board member Joe Plumeri and another from an anonymous donor – as well as the Daily News, which contributed $10,000 for information leading to the conviction of those who desecrated the statue in Brooklyn.

The reward for information leading to the conviction of the vandals who desecrated a Jackie Robinson statue in Brooklyn is now up to $50,000.
After the Daily News offered a $10,000 reward, the Jackie Robinson Foundation received two donations totaling $40,000 for information leading to the conviction of the assailants.
Joe Plumeri, a businessman from New Jersey and boardmember of the foundation, put up $20,000. The rest of the cash came from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous.
“We’ve gotten $40,000,” said foundation president Della Britton Baeza. “With the $10,000 [the Daily News] put up, this is a lot of money.”
The boost in the reward money was announced three days after racist messages were found scrawled on the statue of Robinson and his fellow Brooklyn Dodger Pee Wee Reese in MCU Park in Coney Island.
Cops still have no solid leads, sources said Friday.
Surveillance footage has yielded few clues. Cops have been told to debrief every prisoner about the incident, sources said.
