Blue Fish: Fun Facts

illustration of Blue Fish
Bluefish live nearly year-round in estuaries and bays along the coasts.

Bluefish are strictly carnivorous and will strike at almost any object in the water by biting the tail off their prey.

Bluefish are voracious predators and sight feeders who will then consume the food, regurgitate and will again eat — they will even kill prey they do not eat.

Bluefish have large powerful jaws that are lined with a single row of small, razor-sharp triangular teeth.

Bluefish have a large forked tall fin that pushes them swiftly through water.

Bluefish swim together in large schools of like-sized fish.
