Jon Bon Jovi's Son Earns Spot on Notre Dame Football Squad
Longtime New York Giants fan Jon Bon Jovi has a new football team to root for: Notre Dame.
The New Jersey rocker's son, Jesse Bongiovi, has earned a spot on the Notre Dame University team as a walk on.
“He’s a tough kid," Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly told csnchicago.com. "The kids really like him. They respect him. They don’t look at him as a rock star’s son. They look at him as a kid that loves Notre Dame and wants to play football and help this team."
Bongiovi, 18, is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 183 pounds. The freshman is a two-time letter winner in football at Poly Prep High School in Brooklyn, where he also lettered in lacrosse, according to his Notre Dame media page.
Football is in the Bon Jovi blood. Father, Jon, played Pop Warner football as a kid, and is the is the former owner of the Philadelphia Soul arena football team.
