DAVID BOWIE — MODERN DAY RENAISSANCE MAN

When I really first heard of David Bowie, he was accepting awards for best videos in the 80s — 'China Girl" "Let's Dance" & "Modern Love" — solidifying the fact that Mr. Bowie was on top of the Pop World and one of the founding-forefathers of the Synth-Pop Era.

You know, "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" by Eurythmics, "Don't You Want Me" by Human League, "Relax" by Frankie Goes To Hollywood, etc.

Shortly thereafter, I discovered his past — which was perhaps; even more glamorous than his decade of mega-hits in the 80s. David Bowie -as I eventually discovered, was also a pioneering progressive rocker and founding-grandfather of the Glam-Rock Era during the 70s!

You know, "School's Out" by Alice Cooper, "Hot Love" by T. Rex, "Cum On Feel The Noize" by Slade, "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen, etc.

Decade after decade, year after year — Bowie was an innovative musical genius, fashion icon and cultural sex symbol for the ages. World renown in almost every he does and touches -literally, he revolutionized the entertainment industry w/ his epic albums, award-winning videos and even critically-acclaimed acting roles in movies such as, THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH (1976), THE LABYRINTH (1986), THE PRESTIGE (2006), etc.

David Bowie and Iman: A Timeline of Their Whirlwind 26-Year Romance — Entertainment Tonight

David Bowie was the supreme cultural icon, whose infinite works spanned avant-garde art, underground sounds, and left-field literature. As popular as he was, he was also enigmatic & mysterious — the mixed-blend of these varied characteristics makes him the legend that he was — today, tomorrow and forever. — Kong | theKONGBLOG.com

David Bowie has been cremated in New York according to reports. It is believed he was privately cremated without any friends and family present, as per his wishes. He wanted "to go without any fuss", a source told two UK newspapers.

He passed away on Sunday (January 10) following an 18 month battle with cancer. Reports have since suggested that he "died from liver cancer" after "surviving six heart attacks". — NME
