Tim Lambesis Sentenced to Six Years in Jail for Murder-for-Hire Plot

His ex-wife, the target of the plot, told the court he had seemed dangerous in the months leading up to his arrest

As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis has been sentenced to six years in prison for his role in a murder-for-hire plot to kill his wife. In February, the singer pleaded guilty to soliciting an undercover cop to murder Meggan Lambesis, whom he had married eight years prior and adopted three children with; at the time, he faced up to nine years in prison. Judge Carlos Armour handed down his sentencing, which includes a 48-day credit for custody already served, in a San Diego Superior Courtroom, Radio.com reports.

More than three dozen people, out of the 80-plus spectators present, wore yellow felt hearts in support of Meggan. Three of Lambesis' bandmates – Nick Hipa, Phil Sgrosso and Josh Gilbert – were present at the sentencing.
Meggan spoke at the sentencing, claiming that Lambesis' behavior had changed in the months leading up to his arrest on May 7th, 2013. The day before he was apprehended, he had texted her asking for the social security numbers of their three adopted children. In regard to the murder plot, she referenced Lambesis' favorite line in Total Recall, when Arnold Schwarzenegger's character shoots his wife and says, "Consider that a divorce." (Lambesis has a side project called Austrian Death Machine, for which he does a Schwarzenegger impression and titles songs with references to the actor.)
Lambesis is still the subject of a $2 million civil lawsuit that Meggan filed. The singer has been on house arrest leading up to his plea.
The frontman's bandmates, along with drummer Jordan Mancino, have formed a new band called Wovenwar, which features Oh, Sleeper's Shane Blay on vocals. They intend to release their debut this summer. — Kory Grow | Rollingstone.com
