The Weekend Finally Signs Major Record Label

The Weeknd

One of the Most Enigmatic Yet Popular Modern Day Hip-Hop/R&B Crooner from Toronto, Canada named Abel Tesfaye a.k.a. The Weeknd has finally signed a record deal to a major label — Universal Music Group's Republic Records announced the "official" studio release of "Trilogy" slated for November 13th, 2012.

"Trilogy" will be a mixed & mastered compilation of singer/songwriter: The Weeknd's three "critically-acclaimed" 2011 mixtapes: House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence — including bonus unreleased material.

Thursday (2011)
Echos Of Silence (2011)

The "sought-after" & "in-demand" R&B artist has been all over the map collaborating w/ his Canadian counterpart Drake along w/ 2 Chainz, Juicy J, Florence + the Machine, French Montana, and even Lady Gaga.

Underground Hip-Hop/R&B fans and universal hipsters have been raving about the "multi-faceted/multi-talented" 22-yr-old artist for quite some time now. [Think: Maxwell + The Dream = The Weeknd]

One of My Favorite Tracks, "High For This" which is the intro on his "House of Balloons" mixtape has been used in the HBO's Entourage ad campaign. How ironic that The Weeknd will also release my favorite track, "Wicked Games" as his first single to iTunes and other digital retailers. Perhaps R. Kelly, Usher, Ne-Yo & Trey Songz should make some more room at the top of the R&B Mountain esp. during the weekends (pun intended).
